The iPhone SE will have a successor, in the form of a new generation that will adopt many of Apple’s new technologies and aims to become one of the most affordable options to make the jump to 5G.
Apple mobiles can get many adjectives, but none of them “cheap”; They are all high-end models and they show it with features and a price to match. The exception is the iPhone SE, which with a price of 583.67 is the cheapest way to jump to iOS.
The iPhone SE was renewed last year, with a traditional design and far from the iPhone 12 presented months later. But Apple could be close to introducing a revamp, with a launch scheduled for early 2022.
The revelation comes from the hand of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most respected for the precision of his predictions; the last one advances Apple’s plans for 2022 and includes a new iPhone SE. The big news will be the adoption of new technologies already implemented by Apple, such as 5G connectivity, and a new processor that should make it more attractive in a highly competitive sector.
The design shouldn’t be too far from the current one, which has a 4.7-inch screen and large bezels to accommodate Touch ID on the Home button. That will not change, but Apple may choose to reduce the edges a bit by integrating a screen with a hole for the front camera. More importantly for Apple, the new iPhone SE will be part of the company’s commitment to 5G.
Along with these data, Kuo has advanced some details of the 2022 generation of the iPhone. The big news would be the return of Touch ID, with a fingerprint sensor under the screen, and an important change in the range: the iPhone 13 Mini would be the last due to poor sales, and the iPhone 14 range would only have large mobiles.
Still, they would still be four models; two lower end and two pointers. The screen sizes would be the same, 6.1 and 6.7 inches, and the difference would be in the hardware such as the cameras, among which would be a new 48 MP ultra-wide panoramic.
