At the beginning of October, Google will hold an event where the new products for the coming year will be announced. In addition to the expected Pixel 7 phones, the company will also launch new smart home products from Nest. Another rumor is a new Chromecast with Google TV. The current Chromecast with Google TV supports 4K HDR. According to leaked information, Google wants to bring a cheaper model to the market. Not a 4k resolution model, but 1080p at 60Hz. Ideal for people who do not yet have a 4k television at home (or no smart TV at all) but still want to enjoy all the streaming services and the other possibilities that the small dongle has to offer. This cheaper model would come exclusively to Europe with a suggested retail price of 40 euros. That is a few tens cheaper than the current 4k model. The normal selling price for that model is 69 euros. The new Chromecast with Google TV 1080p appeared at the FCC, which is the American approval authority for electronics. They inspect almost all consumer electronics to see if it meets the requirements. In June, a “new wireless device” from Google called G454V surfaced. It does not state that it is a cheaper Chromecast, but the specifications show 1080p video, 60Hz and a USB connection. It therefore seems logical that it is a cheaper 1080p Chromecast with Google TV.
