The contracts that some companies have to use their services may have unusual and quite curious clauses. An example of this are Amazon contracts in which they protect those who use their services from a possible zombie apocalypse.Yes, as you read it, and it is not a joke. Specifically, it is clause 42.10 of the legal terms of the subsidiary Amazon Web Services (AWS) which is part of the company and is responsible for offering cloud computing services.

Although in the contract, the technology firm does not mention the word ‘zombie’ at any time, it does speak of the hypothetical case in which the dead revive and seek to feed on humans. The phrase appears in the situations andn which the ban on the use of ‘Lumberyard’ materials would not apply:

“This restriction will not apply in the event of […] a widespread viral infection transmitted through bites or contact with bodily fluids that causes human corpses to revive and attempt to consume live human flesh, blood, brain, or nervous tissue and is likely to lead to the downfall of organized civilization.”

In this way, your Lumberyard services could be used to stop a potential zombie threat. In this hypothetical case, said AWS technology could be useful to design, as if it were a video game, a weapon or an application that allows to eliminate the plague to revive the dead.

It should be noted that the viral infection would have to be certified by the US Centers for Disease Control or a successor agency.
