Is your fantasy football team in desperate need of a key waiver wire pickup? Here are players you can stream (and avoid) in NFL Week 14 of the 2019 season.
As we enter NFL week 14 of the 2019 season, some fantasy football owners may be in desperate need of a player or two to bolster your roster. Here are FOUR essential waiver wire pickups to help improve your team and THREE players to avoid.
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups
QUARTERBACK – RYAN FITZPATRICK vs JETS
Fitz-magic is back! The Dolphins are playing meaningful football again and Fitzpatrick is doing work. He has made fantasy bums like Davante Parker and Mike Gesicki into trustworthy options. Now Miami will get to face the team that got this whole thing going again. The New York Jets are finding new ways to disappoint their undiscerning fans as last week they allowed the Cincinnati Bengals to get their first win of the season. The Jets defense has been beatable and this division game should be awful enough to produce fantasy points.
RUNNING BACK – JAYLEN SAMUELS vs CARDINALS
It seems unlikely James Conner will be available for a very plus matchup against the Cardinals and their 21st ranked rush defense. That opens the door for Benny Snell and Jaylen Samuels who should see a few more snaps with Conner out. It’s all about the matchup and potential game script for Pittsburgh. Start your Steelers Running Backs in week 14.
WIDE RECEIVER – ALLEN LAZARD vs REDSKINS
Aaron Rodgers has been taking advantage of weak defenses and one of his favorite targets recently has been Allen Lazard. The young wideout had a great game versus the Giants last week, making all three of his targets count for 103 and a touchdown. The Redskins defense is still on the wrong side of the stat column so look for Aaron Rodgers to pick apart a weak defense and utilize his young receiver.
TIGHT END – CJ UZOMAH vs CINCINNATI
It’s a bad week to stream a tight end, but if you have no choice, CJ Uzomah could be useful enough to avoid a bagel in that spot. Andy Dalton was throwing the ball at Uzomah a lot in the win over the Jets last week, so hopefully, that trend continues and one of those targets ends up in the end zone.
DREAMERS Players to avoid in Week 14
QUARTERBACK – DEVLIN “DUCK” HODGES vs ARIZONA
Even against a great matchup, the Steelers Quarterbacks continue to be a unit to avoid. There is simply too much inexperience to trust that situation in the fantasy playoffs. The only pass catchers I am trusting this week are James Washington and Vance McDonald.
RUNNING BACK – RAHEEM MOSTERT vs NEW ORLEANS
Mostert has a monster performance last week using 19 touches to run for 146 yards and a score. The matchup this week should be a much bigger challenge. The Saints are ranked 4th against the run and are tough to play against in the Superdome. I would expect more from Tevin Coleman this week, and if Brieda is healthy enough to return, that could be a death Nell for Mostert.
WIDE RECEIVER – ANTHONY MILLER vs DALLAS
Miller had a great week 13, he was targeted 13 times, catching 9 and making 146 yards. Miller has actually had some positive numbers for the last 3 weeks. He has been targeted 33 times since week 10. Usually, targets can be a way of predicting usage, but let’s get real, Mitch Trubisky is still the quarterback in Chicago and I don’t trust him at all. This Thursday matchup against Dallas is a bad one for wide receivers and I would stay away this week. Pick him up, but don’t start him.
