In Week-7 of the 2019 season, the New York Mets lost 5 straight games. We discuss Mickey Calloway’s future with the team and more in Episode #93 of WTTSPod.
Entering Monday, the New York Mets had lost 5 straight games and were swept by the Miami Marlins this past weekend. In their last two games, they were shut out twice by Miami and only managed to put together 3 total hits. These games featured TWO baserunning blunders by Robinson Cano, who is notoriously known for not running out grounders.
This begs two questions regarding the New York Mets:
- Is Mickey Calloway right that things are “piling up on Cano?”
- Is Mickey Calloway’s job in danger? Who can replace Calloway?
As we said last week Vlad Jr is on fire. In his first 13 games, Vlad was hitting .191 / .283 / .234 with 0 HR. Since then, in 6 games he’s hitting .333 / .417 / .905 with 4 HR including this one.
Through 46 games this season, Cody Bellinger is currently hitting .405 this season. To put this in perspective, the last hitter to hit .400 or better in a season was Ted Williams in 1941. That season, through 46 games Williams had 1 more hit in 2 fewer ABs than Bellinger currently has.
- Can Bellinger finish the season with .400 or better AVG?
Want to acknowledge something cool that happened this weekend when the Red Sox took on the Astros. A kid announced Michael Chavis, and then Chavis rewarded him with a home run. More of this in baseball!
We cap the show off by providing your with a recap of the Game of Thrones series finale.
