Which teams would be set to face off if the 2020 MLB playoffs started today?

Now, To determine seeding, we check our standings against  ESPN  and MLB for accuracy. As a tiebreaker, we have shifted from using run differential to intradivisional record in order to reflect MLB better.

Notes: The White Sox and the Rayas become the first AL teams to clinch a playoff berth. The Yankees continue winning and are now 2.5 games ahead of the Blue Jays for the 5-seed. The Jays slip to the 8-seed, swapping with the Indians who are ahead by just 0.5 games.

Notes: The Dodgers were the first team to clinch a playoff berth. Aside from that, the only movement in the NL were between the 7 and 8 seeds. Keep an eye on the Phillies who are 3-7 in their last 10 games and hanging on to the 8-seed by a thread.

A few logistical 2020 MLB playoffs updates were announced yesterday. Here’s what you need to know.

Yesterday, we learned that the 2020 MLB playoffs will feature yet another change from year’s past. In what seems like a rather easy agreement between the league and the MLBPA, we finally know when and where ALL postseason games will be played.

Wild Card Series (best-of-3):

  • Hosted by the team with the best record
  • Games to be played between 9/29 – 10/2
  • No off-days between games

From here, the rest of the postseason will be played in one of four neutral sites, depending on the team.

Divisional Series (best-of-5):

  • NLDS games to be played either in either Arlington, TX or Houston, TX
  • ALDS games to be played either in San Diego, CA or Los Angeles, CA
  • Games to be played between 10/5 – 10/10
  • No off-days between games

Championship Series (best-of-7):

  • NLCS to be played in Arlington, TX
  • ALCS to be played in San Diego, CA
  • Games to be played between 10/11 – 10/18
  • No off-days between games

World Series (best-of-7):

  • World Series to be played in Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX
  • Games to be played between 10/20 – 10/28
  • Two off-days granted between games 2 and 3 and between games 5 and 6.
