We start with the (often) most exposed category during IFA; the picture category, and in particular the televisions. However, it must be said right away that we have seen the trend for years that IFA is no longer the place to announce new televisions. Most major manufacturers show their televisions already presented in January and may add a few new screen sizes. This year was not much different, with TP Vision still the exception to the rule. Our press trip to IFA started this year with the event of TP Vision, which markets Philips televisions in Europe. Like every year, TP Vision takes IFA to present its top models for the next 12 months. This year, these were the OLED907 and OLED937 OLED televisions, accompanied by the PML9507 series of LCD televisions. The OLED907 and OLED937 come with a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, an updated version of Ambilight and the latest generation P5 processor with artificial intelligence.The absolute top model is the OLED937, which comes in a 65-inch and 77-inch variant. Only the 65-inch model is equipped with an OLED.EX panel from LG, which achieves a slightly higher brightness compared to previous generations of panels. The PML9507 series also comes with the latest generation Ambilight, the sixth generation P5 processor and a sleek design. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait for our experiences with the new OLED TVs from Philips, because immediately after the presentation we already published our review of the OLED937. The big news in the field of images has already been mentioned. The other major manufacturers mainly focused on the existing line-up, although it must be said that LG did its best to bring existing models back to the attention in a beautiful way. LG showed the ART OLED televisions, which should also be coming to the Benelux soon. These models are mainly dominated by design and should not look out of place in contemporary interiors.LG did have something new with it, but it is not a pure television. The South Korean manufacturer presented the OLED Flex LX3. This is a 42-inch monitor that can be bent at the push of a button. If you play a game, you put it in a curved position, if you watch a movie, you activate the flat screen position. An innovative and very attractive design that we are certainly looking forward to working with.Samsung went big at the fair, with a big press conference and a slick stand, but there were no really new products in the field of TV. Of course microled was present again, we saw the S95B qd-oled television and the focus was of course also on 8K and Neo QLED.Panasonic announced that the OLED televisions launched in January are finally on sale, including the top model; the LZW2004. In addition to a 55-inch and 65-inch variant, this series now also comes in a 77-inch variant. In addition, Panasonic brings a number of Android TVs on the market without much fanfare. These models are in the entry-level segment and are mainly developed for the loyal Panasonic customers who prefer Android TV instead of My Home Screen.TCL showed its previously announced TV lineup at IFA, including the C735 and C935 series. Nothing new in that regard, although the brand is now adding a 98-inch LCD television with a relatively affordable price to the range. The 98-inch C735 series should cost 6,500 euros, which is a pittance given the average price of televisions of this size.A number of smaller manufacturers made themselves heard during IFA. For example, new televisions under the Toshiba and Sharp brands were announced for the Benelux. But, we should not expect much from this. This mainly concerns models that compete on price and basically they all come from the Turkish Vestel. This company has the rights to use the Sharp and Toshiba brands.Finally, Epson came up with news because the company is introducing no fewer than six new projectors, intended for film buffs, sports enthusiasts and gamers looking for a large screen. The new projectors offer options in every price range. Ranging from entry-level projectors with WXGA technology, affordable 4K PRO-UHD projectors with built-in Android TV, to the Epson EpiqVision Ultra projector with 4K-PRO UHD and a laser light source.
