A fire broke out this Monday at the Cinecittà studios in Rome, the most legendary in the history of Italian and European cinema. The fire broke out in the afternoon on an outdoor set where a set that reconstructed Renaissance Florence was being dismantled and had been used for the filming of a documentary. The fire generated a thick cloud of black smoke that could be seen from several city ​​points. Three firefighters went to the area to extinguish the flames and protect the unaffected structures, while the local police closed the traffic on the adjacent streets, according to Efe. In addition to the Florentine decoration, the fire has affected part of the set of the series The Young Pope, the production of HBO commanded by Paolo Sorrentino. The flames would also have affected part of the facilities that make up the Big Brother house, located within the complex of film studios. Fortunately, there have been no injuries from the fire or from smoke poisoning. Thus, we can celebrate that this small fire has not been as damaging as the one that Cinecittà suffered in 2007, when the warehouse where the decorations were stored went up in flames and sets from the Roma series, set at the birth of the Roman Empire. A few years later, in 2012, another fire affected Studio 5, where classic films such as Ben-Hur were shot.
